An apparatus for carrying cargo on a roof of a recreational vehicle which has a rooftop air conditioning unit is provided and has a lay or come up that is configured for receipt of the rooftop air conditioning unit therein. The cargo carrier may have cargo-receiving spaces in lie of in approve of and alongside the air conditioning unit.
